Navathi of Sri.K.Raghavan Thirumulpad

Our Guru Vaidyabhooshanam Raghavan Thirumulpad is turning ninety in May 2010. For more than six decades, he is an active presence in all spheres of life, especially health and wellness. There will hardly be an Ayurvedic physician in the state who has not gone through some book or other authored by him during their life, either as a student or as a physician.

This occasion offers an ideal opportunity to pay our respects and regards to this living legend. We are planning to organize a Navati Celebrations on the 23rd of May 2010 at Gopalakrishna Auditorium, Chalakudy, for the same.

What we have in mind is a one-day program, somewhat in the following lines:

Morning sessions:

Inaugural session - NAVATHI PRANAMAM, which will be an occasion for the shishyas and well-wishers to pay their respects and regards, and to greet their guru.

Release of Books: There will be a release of 5-6 books by/on our Guru. We are in the process of getting confirmation from various dignitaries of deserving stature to adorn the stage on this special occasion.

Symposium: The Second part of the morning session will be a symposium on a special chapter of Ashtanga Samgraham Sutrastanam, called "BHESHAJAAVACHARANEEYAM" . There will be a lead paper and presentations of different aspects of the specified contents of the chapter, followed by a discussion. Our aim is to gather a good crop of quality thoughts on 'clinical medicine in ayurveda' .

Afternoon Session

After the conventional Birthday sadya, the afternoon session is planned as a special congregation of dignitaries from various quarters of life, like education, literature, arts, journalism, technology, other streams of medical practice, agriculture, law, information technology, politics etc. The participants will share their views, anxieties, expectations and experiences (or encounters) with ayurveda.

A few curtain-raiser programmes are also being discussed and are yet to be finalized.

We earnestly seek your valuable inputs and suggestions on this above.

Thanking in advance

On behalf of the Navathi celebrations committee

  1. Guruji brought light ,love and life to an otherwise inert subject. Was it not for him than the philosophy of this great science would have gone unfurled .He revealed the beauty of Ayurveda by simplifying its great philosophy .Not only did he teach but also did he inspire to think,to ask , to act - of course the great teacher could only inspire-which set forth renaissance once again asserting the lesson of history - how simplicity simply changes the world .
Let us come together to honour our great Guru .
